#Zed custom mouse pointer windows
The workaround involves a few steps, but basically boils down to "breaking" the League cursors you want to replace, and changing your Windows cursor to whatever one you want to use in League.
#Zed custom mouse pointer mod
But when there is a NOTICEABLE difference in how well I can play when a subtle change like this is implemented, isn't that a sign that there may be some substance to my request?ĮDIT 4: I've spent some time this morning exploring the current issues with RAF with renewed vigor after poking around for a while, I finally pieced together a short-term, half-assed workaround, inspired by some comments made by Darkimmortal, creator of the League OSU cursor mod (see here). I was very much-so used to the regular cursors having used them since I started playing in the first place. Is it wrong of me to request a simple tweak be added to the game to make the overall experience for myself (and others affected by this)? While I agree that there is a possibility that I MAY be able to improve over time by playing stuff like OSU, or getting a better mousepad, or tweaking all of the settings on my mouse, I would like to reiterate the following: I understand that games like that can help improve muscle memory and mouse control, but some of us just aren't wired that way, and need to rely on processing what we see on-screen in order to know where we're actually clicking.Īgain, I would like to re-emphasize: I understand that not very many people are affected by this issue, but there are still some of us whose overall League experience would be vastly improved with a tweak like this.ĮDIT 3: Some of you are suggesting that I do various things to try to help improve my mouse control and/or the other stuff listed above.
I honestly haven't tried OSU (but have considered it in the past), but videos of it lead me to believe that the cursor in that game doesn't suffer from the same visibility issues that we're discussing here (correct me if I'm wrong).
Because of the "grey area" that modding programs fall into, I would much rather have this functionality (the cursor tweaks) be a part of the game itself, rather than something the users have to shoehorn into the game's code.ĮDIT 2: A few people have suggested playing OSU to help improve my hand-eye coordination here's a copy of one of my replies:
#Zed custom mouse pointer Patch
Tl dr I have trouble tracking my cursor during teamfights, created an easy-to-follow custom cursor that helped a lot, but broke during the 3.11 patch please add a "high-visibility cursor" to League!ĮDIT: The RAF Manager program's replacement, The Dargon Project, is apparently being released as a "public alpha" in the next few days, according to this schedule (thanks to /u/IttyBittyNinja for the source). So an idea I wanted to propose (that I believe has been proposed countless times before) is that, alongside other features such as colorblind mode, Riot add a "high-visibility cursor" option, so that players such as myself no longer suffer from the issues we're currently facing in games. I've had to revert back to the defaults, and my performance has gotten so bad that I've refused to play any ranked games since, and generally just fall back to a "support Sona" role, so as to avoid having to rely on clicking anything at all. Unfortunately, the most recent patch (3.11) has sort of "broken" how the files (and, by extension, utilities) work, and I can no longer use my custom cursors. I noticed an almost instantaneous improvement in my performance, not only on my AD carries, but in the other lanes as well. I managed to use these tools to create my own, custom mouse cursor (a simplistic white arrow), and started using them in-game. Then, a couple of months ago, I discovered RAF Manager and SIU (re-skinning utilities). It's hard to explain, but I would just lose sight of it, and would usually end up just waltzing out into the middle of the enemy team, all while I would try to track down where my cursor had gone on-screen. Nowadays, I still prefer to play AD carry, but I normally "fill" in the soloqueue games I play.Īs I strove to become better as an AD carry, I discovered a problem that consistently haunted me: I would very easily lose track of my cursor during teamfights. I spent most of my time playing Ashe, but eventually started learning some of the other champions. Some background: I started playing League around Christmas time of last year, and quickly got hooked.
